Resident Shifter: Paul Dommert Jr.

Mr. Dommert has been a seeker his whole life, sensing the hidden workings and potential power of the world he was thrust into. A natural born artist, he has been honing his skill as an electronic musical composer while performing live in venues for many years. He is also a late-blooming academic that returned to school later in life and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University, Monterey Bay; doing so with distinction in the major and with magna cum laude honors. His academic journey will continue in the fall of 2023 as he begins a Masters in Transpersonal Psychology program at Sofia University in Palo Alto, California. 

Paul is extremely proud to be a published behavioral science researcher, having conducted a multiphase, mixed method study on positive psychological transformation and post traumatic growth that was published in the International Journal for Transpersonal Studies in 2021. He and colleagues at Psychology Is: Research & Education are currently in the process of developing an officially recognized scale for assessing catalysts and the progression of these kinds of transformation. Another aspect that makes Paul a specialist working with light is evident in his participation as a subject in a mind-matter experiment performed at the Institute of Noetic Studies (IONS) in Petaluma, California in early 2020. In this study, participants were asked to block, bend or otherwise affect the path of protons in a laser beam that was in the same room but hidden from view. Mr. Dommert and some others were able to prove that they could in fact affect the light from the laser with their mind; in other words were able to perform a type of telekinesis. For you science nerds, Paul's p-score was .034 against what was determined as 1-in-20 odds that the data collected was by random chance, which is well into the realm of what would be considered statistically significant. All of these traits and circumstances have crystallized and culminated in this venture, here and now. What kind of interesting findings are to be shared through the unique research angles that are available?
